Projects

Project 1: Gone (as seen on RTE Nationwide)

Project 2: Ten Images

The below are ten projects which I included for my final thesis at NCAD. Graduating year 2018. Leaky Lining and Inner Critic (the Cremation of the Inner Critic) are both derived from live performances which have also been included, just click on the tab.

Dementia

Recycled electrical wire, mixed media, 1m x 0.5m x 0.30m

Dementia is a set of sculptures exhibited in Mercer’s Institute for Successful Aging, at St. James Hospital, James St. Dublin 8.

This work was the result of attending information seminars, power point presentations and conversations with professional  medical staff and nurses. The bottom sculpture is my interpretation of the mind unraveling, finding itself all confused as the memory fades.

While the top sculpture implies the loss of connection to everyone familiar. Nothing remains but threads of life, the fragility of life.

Manbag

Wood, Material, Padding, Recycled Suit, Rolled Grass 1m x 1m x1m

Man bag is about exploring identity. This one metre squared installation operated both as a bag and as cinema to show a film the size of a stamp to denote the letters my father received from his mother in America. A ghost of the past that we never met.

Cremation of the Inner Critic

Performance, documented in a six minute film.

This is a photograph taken by Annette Barnaville from my performance Cremation of the Inner Critic. It’s about our inner dialogue while grieving the loss of my brother. This performance has several connotations ranging from loss of my brother, to the mis-carraige I had as a young mother to the Shamanic healing I was receiving at that time. I invited my college peers to join me in this ritual of loss and letting go.

Icon

Rolled Grass, Recycled Guinness Tap, light, MDF, 0.5m x 0.25m x 0.40m

This work is a reflective piece, of a time when everything changed, in my young life. It also plays on a  male power, influence and control I experienced growing up in a Catholic house.

Fadó Fadó

Wood, Metal, Rolled Grass, Turf.  1.2m x 0.75m x 1m

Fadó Fadó is a multilayered sculpture about memory and relationship with my father. Its rural nuances are a nod to the countryside where I grew up and the jobs we had to do as children. It also references fear and religion at a time when I was so impressionable.

Devotion

Wire, Sanitary Towels, Wooden Chair, Light. 1.75 m x 0.75m

Devotion is part of a moving exhibition I had in the Atrium in my final year of college.

The sanitary towel is a nod to my mother’s untimely death.

The reflective light holds a spiritual meaning along with the white cloud-like materials infers she is in heaven.

Journey Through Grief

Thread 2m x 2.5m

This multi coloured thread installation, that was woven together daily, became my coping mechanism as I tried to make sense of my emotion. It became my holding space where I could express all the pent up feelings of loss.

Leaky Lining

Silicone, Sanitary towels, Rags, Tampons, Plaster Bandage,
Water, Food Colouring. 1.75m x 1m x 0.35m

Leaky lining is about everything menstrual. The costume consists of all types of sanitary ware inferring a bullet proof vest for protection for the torso and the skirt.

Drawing the gaze to the vaginal area. The head dress is mimicked on a crown worn by one of the high priestess from the Tarot cards, The outer cloak doubles up as the lining of the womb along with being the top coat of a sanitary pad.

This costume was worn for a performance for my degree show at the end of my time in College. It originated from surveys, conversations and my own experience with my menstrual flow.

It’s a ritual and a celebration of the female organ that is fundamental to a woman’s natural biological system.

Pimp my Zimmer Frame

Recycled Shopping Bag, Thread, Fabric, Buttons, Velcro, Ribbon.

Pimp my Zimmer Frame is the story of a very proud Dublin woman and her family. Each nuance is a memory of time shared with friends and family. The bag to the front was a nod to her style, how she liked to shop and for the storage of personal items.

Light Box

Wood, Insulating Tape, Lighting Strip. Grease Proof Paper.
16 x 20 x 15 cms

This functional sculpture derived from a conversion from a gent who’s passion was for colouring. Sometimes when daylight would be waning, he couldn’t use his materials so I thought this light box might help.

Project 3: Consumption

This Still image is of ‘Consumption’ installed at Trinity College’s Climate Action exhibition in November 2025. It consists of plastics, cardboard, fabrics to draw attention to the over consumption of these materials along with the water used to create them. This costume is styled on fast fashion and all the pollution it causes to create them. Inspired by Pablo Picasso’ animal head to highlight the over consumption of dairy products and all the gases produced from dairy farming, such as methane, nitrous oxide and carbon dioxide.

Project 4: St Brigid's Puppet

St Brigid puppet was a collaboration with Murielle Cellis, Akvile Šimanskienė and myself in February 2026. We are members of an arts collective called SCÉAL situated in Balbriggan. The puppet was born from a suggestion I made, to create a spectacle to catch the public’s attention for The St. Bridges Day Parade. Our time line was short so we set to work immediately, sourcing materials and designing height, scale, weight and functionality. We worked tirelessly, using all recycled materials, some donations from other artists and a local charity shop. The work took three weeks and near completion we asked fellow artist Bartek Dorosko to be our puppeteer and to carry the 8ft puppet on his shoulders. After a few adjustments and final tweaks St Brigid the Puppet was ready for unveiling the evening of the parade. All our investigation on height, weight distribution and weather conditions made for a successful procession over the Via duct, along the path and onto the beach to join other celebrations taking part for St. Brigid.
